What is ABA Therapy?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific discipline proven to be an effective treatment for reducing maladaptive behaviors and developing more functional skills to replace those undesired behaviors. ABA is based on the principle that an individual's behavior is shaped by past and current environmental events, and can be modified through the effective use of reinforcement and the extinguishing of non-desired behaviors.
ABA evaluates an individual's performance, the function of their behaviors, and environmental variables based on observation. The information gathered is used by a lead analyst to design and implement a behavioral program targeting undesired behaviors, learning objectives, and environmental modifications, producing meaningful, lasting change.
